Unfortunately, we do not accept reservations. If you have a party of 7 or more, we recommend someone in your party arrive at least 30 minutes early and put their name on the wait list with the hostess.

We do not accept to go orders over the phone. You can place a to go order at the bar in person. The normal wait time is about 15 minutes.

Chef JP Roots

Local Chef Jeff "JP" Roots gained formal training at Johnson & Wales University, S.C. which concluded with an honored opportunity to cook at the famed James Beard House. Since, his travels have taken him from CA to MS all the while maintaining New Orleans flair in his culinary creations. Roots' varied experience includes serving as Executive Chef of fine dining at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, AL, of large scale catering and food service at Grand Casino, MS, and of volume food service with ARAMARK, KY & MS. Additionally he was a Chef Instructor at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

Today, Chef Roots makes a welcomed return to the kitchen as he joins the thriving Velvet Cactus team.  Excitement abounds as Roots brings his comfortably New Orleans, forward thinking culinary experience to "play".
